I did a pair of shore dives with my friend Andrew Sunday off of Old Garden Beach in Rockport. Old Garden is where I got certified, and it’s still one of my favorites because of its easy entry. It’s a sandy beach, somewhat sheltered, but unlike Pebble Beach, you can get past the sand without too much of a surface swim.

After the dive, I picked up Andrew Martinez’s Marine Life of the North Atlantic at Cape Ann Divers. I’ve only flipped through it so far, but it looks to be an excellent field guide, and hopefully I’ll be better able to identify things in the future. But for now, here are some uncaptioned pictures.
